Since time began, there have been Nightwalkers - the races of the night who live in the shadows of the moonlight. Love with humans is absolutely forbidden, and one man makes certain to uphold this ancient law: Jacob, the Enforcer...

For 700 Years, He has resisted temptation. But not tonight...

Jacob knows the excuses his people give when the madness overtakes them and they fall prey to their lust for humans. He's heard every one and still brought the trespassers to justice. Immune to forbidden desires, uncontrollable hungers, or the curse of the moon, his control is total...until the moment he sees Isabella on a shadowy New York City street. Saving her life wasn't in his plans. Nor were the overwhelming feelings she arouses in him. But the moment he holds her in his arms and feels the soft explosion of her body against his, everything changes. Their attraction is undeniable, volatile, and completely against the law. Suddenly everything Jacob has ever believed is inflamed by the heat of desire...

Bring on the night.

Hello again! After the The Wolf Gift debacle, here I am back with a review of an extremely quick listen~ Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank narrated by Xe Sands. Xe Sands did a really great job at reading this book! I completely loved how she did the voice of Isabella; soft, feminine, even going as far as slightly annoying in its high pitched'ness, but truly adorable and endearing to me! LOL! I know- glutton for punishment! So, this book was extremely short, I think- at least it was when I listened to it. I could imagine it not taking the average reader very long at all to plow through this book. It was a sweet, feel-good kind of story, even though the characters are demons. The action was just that- generic action with a little bit of magic and demon kind of skills and whatnot in it. The plot was interesting and the journey was a fun one to go on with the characters, learning bits and pieces of their lore along the way. I really liked her touching just a little bit on each of the characters that I'm sure to meet in depth in future books. I WILL be finishing this series, and am starting book 2 later tonight! Now, this was obviously another "version" of series similar to Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward and the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian, what with the males having mates they must find, the mates having special "powers" or not being regular ol' mortals... etc etc. Either way, having known it was a knock off of that same theme/genre, I still liked the book and know I will enjoy the series. It's just a little bit of ear candy (since I listen to my books in audio format) for me to keep my mind half occupied while I'm doing tasks around the house like dishes, laundry, etc! I recommend the book to anyone who fully understands that it is quite similar to the "other" same plot line as most books of this genre are, but it still is fun and worth while!

I give Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank:
★★★★ = Liked it!

  1. I'm so glad you enjoyed JACOB, Sarah! I certainly grew to love these characters by the end of the series. If you listen to others in the series, I look forward to hearing what you think. Each book really does have it's own pace and feeling, as the main couples also have differing personalities.

  3. Xe does a fabulous job, really. And in response to the "knock off" remark...in my defense...this was written before either of those series. It was in production when JRs book was released and I believe predates Lara's. It's a popular idea I guess! After all...we women are raised to dream about our 'prince' or ultimate mate being out there somewhere!
