The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows - her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield - and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family's dark past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness - and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who craves a taste of her.

He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human - even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the demon nightmare together...

Because once the first drop of crimson falls, they will both be lost.

Hello again readers! I currently have my parents visiting from out of town (Washington State) and so I've not been able to listen to my audiobooks as often as I might like, but I did manage to finish the first book in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress World series- First Drop of Crimson. You don't know how good it was to get back into Frost's little Night Huntress "World"! Granted, this wasn't about Cat and Bones, which is okay, they made brief appearances and I got to hear Bone's quirky, crazy British accent that Tavia Gilbert NAILS! LOL! This book was about some of the other minor series in the Night Huntress; Bone's best friend Spade and Cat's best friend Denise. I have to say, I really love Spade after this book. He's kinda a douche in the other books, but this one really focused in on the why's and how's of his mind and his emotions and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Denise's story was pretty cool too! This story line coincided with, I think book 4 or 5 in the regular Night Huntress series, which they hinted at, and it was really nice to see what was going on WHILE Cat and Bones were off doing their own things, it's like a different point of view along the same timeline- which is so fun!! I have since started the second book in the Night Huntress World series but I've been really preoccupied with doing custom blogs for client's and my folks visiting from out of town as well as my kiddo's first week of school, so when things settle down a bit more, I will be updating more frequently and simply can not wait until the book after this one I'm on right now, which is Vlad's story! I thought about skipping ahead to it, but will be patient and wait! I'm just so excited for it!!! I know I will love it because I love the lore of Vlad aka Dracula (lol! he hates being called that in the books!) and love his personality and really loved the relationship between Cat and Vlad, so it will be awesome, I think! Anyway, I am cutting this short, so sorry! This was a really good start to a whole "world" series and I know I will love the rest of the books as I loved this one! :)

I think I'm going to give this book ★★★★.5 stars!

A Taste of Blood

He will stop at nothing to bring his fellow Impure vampires the freedom they deserve. Now if he could just release his primal need for the beautiful vampire who saved his life—and rules his thoughts and desires…

After nearly killing the senator she was assigned to protect, Dillon is now in mortal danger. The jaguar within her has been unleashed, and she can no longer control it. Sex is the only thing that can tame her shift. And Gray is the only man who can make her surrender to a passion strong enough to overpower her inner beast. But she doesn’t want to surrender—she wants her life back. Because she is determined never to belong to anyone, especially not Gray—the male whom destiny claims is her mate…

Welcome back visitors! I just finished the 4th and so far, last book in the Mark of the Vampire series. I really enjoyed this book and am sad to see that I'm all caught up on her series! I am hoping that she writes more for this series as there are many, many more characters that I'm dying to learn more about! I think that if anyone wants a good, solid series with a great amount of series based lore that is particular to these books only and these characters, I would definitely go out and get these books. They are a generally quick read as well, even though I gave them a listen on audio, they all went fairly quickly (except for book 3 which I think was the longest of them all so far) and are so great! I am quickly warming up to the characters and everyone's quirks and temperament. We were introduced to Dillon and Gray in the first book actually, and had heard of them throughout the series here and there, they both had their personalities forming from the very beginning and it was nice to see them have their own book. It was interesting as well, the "beast" twist, that Wright gave the vampire world she's created. You were given a sense of Dillon being this bad ass all the way from book 1, and this book took you through WHY she says what she says and does what she does. Gray's personality was pretty crystal clear from book 2 on and in this book we were all able to really get a good picture of his Why's and why not's. All and all- great book, great series!

I give this book about a ★★★★.5 LOL! and I'm not 100% sure what I will be starting next, but I've loaded up this book onto my mp3 player, so we'll see! I'm really missing the Night Huntress series!!! *sigh*

Hi again!! Last night I finished the 3rd book in the Mark of the Vampire Series by Laura Wright and I have to say, the other 2 books were leading up to this one amazing book! I completely LOVED this book! I loved EVERYTHING about it, the torturous emotions, the chains, even didn't mind her using my favorite "C" word because she actually mixed it up with the equally lovely "P" (remember, rhymes with 'hussy!') word, LMBO! So, with that being said, I loved these two characters- Lucian and Bronwyn, and I knew deep down (read my second review of this series) that I was going to completely love this book- and I was right, I DID love it! I loved that after a fashion and being in his homeland, Luca's brogue started to peek through and reallllly loved another minor characters british accent... made me seriously miss Bones from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost- which Tavia Gilbert also narrates. ;) Anyways, this book seemed to be a bit longer than the other two in the series and it felt slightly disjointed at the end... I'm not sure why I felt that way, but I did. By the end I was tearing up something fierce though, so that might have been why! It felt like a really long journey that slightly seemed a little longer than necessary, like things were almost drawn out TOO much (if that's possible!)... but all in all I seriously give this book ★★★★★ = Loved it!

I had loaded up the 4th book in the series and gave it a short little 15 minute listen last night, and I'm interested in seeing where it's going to go... the characters are really ones I'm emotionally invested in, but I am sure I will enjoy it! :)

Sacrifice will be their downfall. And their resurrection.

Family is blood.

His father unknown, his mother dead, Nicholas Roman was raised by the vampire Breed with one wish: to live as a normal vampire. But once he's transformed against his will into a gifted immortal, Nicholas now has one goal: to stop the Eternal Order of vampires from controlling his life and from transforming more males from his bloodline for their vicious reign. Then comes a beautiful stranger with a startling secret.

Vampire Kate Everborne claims she's sheltering Nicholas' long-lost son. If this is true, then who is the mother? And how endangered are they if, indeed, Nicholas does possess the bloodline so coveted by the Order? These are questions that with every seductive whisper, every silken touch, draw Nicholas and Kate intimately closer and nearer still to the truth. But aroused too are Nicholas' fears that this tantalizing woman has even more secrets—both dangerous and provocative—she has yet to share.

Hello again! Here I am reviewing the second book in the Mark of the Vampire series by Laura Wright, read by the lovely Tavia Gilbert! This second book gave me a little more a taste of what I was kind of wanting in regards to my review on book one (Eternal Hunger). It was a decent book and issuing more and more about the characters that I'm really liking. The wonderful Laura Wright still over uses that wonderful "C" word that we all  know and kind of cringe at... and at the very beginning of the book she had mentioned the "P" word... you know, rhymes with HUSSY (lmbo!!!)... and I though "oh my god, she did it! she nixed the "C" word from her books!!!! yay!" but no... I had just gotten a wee bit lucky that one time with the "P" word! No, in all honestly, it doesn't bother me really that much, it's just that there's so many other words that authors can use for our wonderful feminine parts, the "C" word just make it sound dirty and crude. Anyway... I enjoyed this book a lot, it revealed a lot of different things and has that perfect amount of tension and action/adventure in it. I'm really loving getting to know all of the different characters and brothers and whatnot and even though I kinda called the ending (situation with Luca & Bronwyn- who the next book is about YAYAYAYAY!!!) pretty early on (actually, last book!), I'm really enjoying it! I love this series and hope I'm not setting myself up for failure because I'm REALLY excited to start book 3! I loved the torment and the self loathing that the main character Nicolas has and love the spunky attitude that Kate has as well, though the way that Tavia read the voice of Kate, I sort of wanted to shove knives into my ear drums after a while! *shudder* No offense or anything, but Kate's voice is excruciating LOL! Ahhh! so, this review is kinda all over the place, sorry! But I definitely am loving this series!

I gave Eternal Kiss this many stars:  ★★★★ = Liked it!

And I will be starting the 3rd book in this series tonight! :)

Hello again! Back so soon, you ask? Well, today I finished on audio, the first book in the Mark of The Vampire series- Eternal Hunger by Laura Wright... oddly enough, it's read by the lovely Tavia Gilbert, who read the last series I just finished as well! Co-ink-ee-dink??? IDK! I am not purposely seeking out books read by her, even though her voice has been a constant for a couple months now- in the back of my mind! LOL! Either way... I'm here to review this interesting first book in a series that falls into that similar category that I was just whining I haven't gotten enough of in the Night Huntress books- that one true mate, that love of their life, the whole "I was born/made for just one person" etc etc. You know the books... just the the others in this similar genre- Midnight Breed by Adrian, Black Dagger Brotherhood by Ward... etc etc! I know the last time I mentioned that a series was "along the same vein/genre" as those mentioned directly above, I got a little scolding from an actual author (*meeeeep*) and I had to take a moment to kind of re-think my words and try and think about what I was really trying to convey... and I think I conveyed it alright... I wasn't mentioning that either book or series was better than the other, or whichever series or books came first were BETTER... just that there are certain genre's out there that are more similarly put onto paper (or directly into my ear, as I listen to audiobooks lol!)... I'm not sure if the author who started explaining that her books came out first, so she was more original understood that I didn't mean anything negative by saying that so and so book was along the same vein as so and so book... it's just that they are all kind of similar. When you take a subject like "one true mate" and express it in plot, with other characters and whatnot, well... the main topic is pretty obvious and 'in your face'. So, when I say "along the same vein" or "in the same genre" as so and so book, please don't think that I'm being negative- quite the opposite actually! I'm giving extreme kudos to anyone who can write a book that is in the same genre but still hold it's own as some of my favorite authors (Ward, Hamilton, Adrian etc)... so with that being said, this was ONE OF THOSE BOOKS! LOL! And that is completely okay. It was what I needed after the grueling Night Huntress series with very little errrrr... yanno, S. E. X in it. It's funny because I'm a part of an amazing group of ladies on Facebook, a book group, and everyone laughs because apparently I'm the resident sex freak and I need all of my books to have sex scene after sex scene for me to be interested in it! Don't get me wrong, I do need a little MEAT on the BONES of my books, but, there can be a perfectly good PLOT w/o the abundance of sexual relations, LOL! I just like paranormal ROMANCE. I guess. Paranormal PORN? Is there such a thing? Well this book kind of had it. Oh, yeah... I'm reviewing a book! Sorry, two glasses of wine this evening... got side tracked! This was a good START of a series. Unfortunately, or fortunately (???), it really left me wanting MORE. More everything. More action, more of their 'battle' scenes, more details, more sex (but less of that freaking "C" word... oh my, someone hand Ms. Wright a thesaurus and give her other words for our glorious honey pot please... cunt just does not flow well from the lips of any reader! Over and over, and over again! Gah!), more details on the characters! So like I said, this was a fantastic START of a series that I really hope we get more into. I'm going to be starting the second book in the series (thought I'm kind of sad that I read it's about the second oldest brother- Nicholas, rather than Lucian... I can't wait to read Luca's book, meow!) right after I'm finished with this extremely long winded, slightly inebriated review and I'm actually really looking forward to it! Even though I picked up the Night Huntress World books today (I'm DYING to listen to Vlad's book, omg!) I am going to put them on the back burner until I get through the other 3 books in this series, I really have hope and faith that this series is going to turn into something really great. It seems like she is going to go deeper into their "lore" and their "world" and I can't wait to go on that journey, to be honest. It's kinda got a little grip on me, and I'm hoping that I don't have too high of expectations for this series! It sort of feels similar to when I first started the Lords of the Underworld series by Showalter... after that first book I was like Mehhhhh, IDK! But then I gave the second and third etc books a try and that is seriously one of my all time favorite series EVA. LOL! So... here I go! Learning more and more about this interesting world that Wright is unfolding and setting up for her readers/listeners! Hope it turns out to be decent! I noticed that the other books in the series star ratings on Good Reads get higher than this first book!

I gave this first book in the series:  ★★★★ = Liked it!

See you all soon for the review of the second book in this series. Probably won't be too far off as these books appear to be rather short! :X

One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress #6)

The latest installment in Frost's "New York Times"- and "USA Today"-bestselling Night Huntress series, in which Cat grapples with her temporary ability to communicate with the dead and takes on a phantom murderer. Original.

Welcome back readers! Here I've concluded the Night Huntress Series thus far... just finished book 6 earlier today and wanted to get a review out before I got too into the new series I just started a few hours ago. I don't know if Frost has any intentions on continuing Bone's and Cat's story any further, or leaving it at 6 books, but it felt like a good place for a stand still... a break, so to speak. I vaguely recall reading something about a Night Huntress "World" on her website when reviewing the books before I started them, so that is definitely something for me to look into in the future when I've had a sufficient enough break... I'm ashamed to admit it, but I think I will have Tavia's voice of Bone's echoing in my mind for quite some time! ;) Even though I said that the accent killed me at the first & second review! LOL! He became seriously endearing after 6 books! And oddly enough, the new series I plugged into today is actually narrated by Tavia as well! LOL! It's not often that that sort of things happens. Readers repeat obviously, especially the real strong male narrators, but I didn't know of Tavia before this series (that I recall off hand) and now she's going to be reading a whole new series, it's just kind of funny to me! Feels familiar, but where, oh where is Bones? Bahahah!! Okay. So Bone's and Cat's 6th journey together... it was a good one. It had all the same excitement and adventure in it as the rest of the books in the series had of course and a bit more of the "connection" between the two main characters that we've all grown to love. Bone's and Cat are quite the couple! :) I like them both equally, I think, after having read their story in book form back to back... SIX whole books! Well, when I said "read", of course I meant LISTENED to! ;) Either way, I don't know how long I will be able to go w/o hearing about Bones and Cat or at least their "world", so I might look into the Night Huntress "World" books sooner rather than later! :) Anyone looking for a good adventure, love story, drama, and tons of action with a great writing style, pick up these books!

I gave this 6th book in the series    ★★★★ = Liked it!

And several hours ago, I started this book:

Danger waits on both sides of the grave.
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband Bones have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they've triumphed over the latest battle, Cat's new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance . . .
With the mysterious disappearance of vampires, rumors abound that a species war is brewing. A zealot is inciting tensions between the vampires and ghouls, and if these two powerful groups clash, innocent mortals could become collateral damage. Now Cat and Bones are forced to seek help from a dangerous "ally"; the ghoul queen of New Orleans herself. But the price of her assistance may prove more treacherous than even the threat of a supernatural war . . . to say nothing of the repercussions Cat never imagined.

Hello again! Here I am with my review on the 5th book in the Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost! This book was along the same vein as the others, and although I didn't enjoy it quite as much as book 4, I thought it held it's own and was a good, solid book. As you may or may not know, I LOVE me a good series, and though this series is not as emotional and all lovey-dovey as some of the series I read, it has GREAT action and adventure and good, sturdy plots and characters. I love the diversity of the characters and love the fact that we get to see them make repeat performances throughout the whole series. I know the focus is solely on Bones and Cat, but learning a bit more about the secondary characters wouldn't hurt, I don't think... it's sort of a shame we don't get to know some of the other characters like Tate, a bit better. But Bones and Cat's adventures could surely fill page after page, as they have already done and be a pretty decent book(s), don't get me wrong! I enjoyed the emotion in this book a lot, and don't want to do any real spoilers but there is a pretty heart wrenching moment in towards the end of the book that made me shed a bit of a tear! I think the only thing that I didn't really 'feel' was the difference in Tavia Gilbert's reading style in this one. She gets very rushed and panicked and frantic when she reads during exciting moments in the book, and sometimes that it hard to follow along and keep track of. That was the only real con and against several of the pro's, it doesn't really make the book terrible, just something that I didn't fully prefer. All in all, this is a great fifth book in the series and I started book 6 last night, so I had to get this review down here before I pop my mp3 earbuds in and give a listen while doing chores today~ so here it is! :)

I gave This Side of The Grave this many stars: ★★★★ = Liked it!

And I've loaded up the final book in the series so far, book 6 last night!

Hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when half-vampire Cat Crawfield begins having visions of a vampire named Gregor who's more powerful than Cat's undead lover, Bones, and has ties to her past that even Cat herself doesn't know about. Original.

Hello again! I'm bringing you my review on the 4th book in the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. Now, I know I was a little mehhhh regarding her last couple of the books in this series, but I realllly liked this one! It seems she has a bit of a lull there in her writing (book wise) but it appears she's picked up, for me! I liked everything about this particular book- the drama- the relationships- the twists and turns- the action, everything! It felt like a quick bit of a listen, but there wasn't really anything at all that bothered me about this one! It was all over the place, but with a common "goal" and the ending was great! I just started the 5th book a few minutes ago, but figured that I would sit down and put a few of my thoughts down here in review format, before I completely forgot about reviewing this book, LOL! I really like how Bones wasn't a blathering love-sick dope in this one... he's gonna kinda mehhh for me! Obviously he's powerful, a master vamp etc, but towards Cat in the previous books he's just been starstruck, hearts in his eyes, kinda annoying for me. He really shows his truer colors in this one and kinda goes out on a limb with his feelings and there's tons of emotions going on in this one for Bones. Ah, and another tid bit without putting too many spoilers out there, I REALLY enjoy the friendship between Cat and Dracul... errrrr, "Vald"... LOL! It's fantastic, and it's so nice to have heard from Vlad that he wasn't interested in sex etc, he just wanted a friend... That's even better than the sex stuff for me, ALMOST. Bahah! Okay... I'm dying to turn my mp3 player back on and get busy on the next book! I will be back soon to review it, don't you worry! :)

I gave this one: ★★★★★ = Loved it!
