Twice Tempted (Night Prince #2)

by
Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges...
Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover, Vlad, has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever–especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her.
Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity...
Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust– the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity.

Howdy y'all! *snort* I'm back with another review! Yeah, THAT fast. This book was extremely quick. Literally less than a day, I think? The running time on the audiobook says 8 hours 6 minutes, so yeah, it was a seriously quick listen. It's the second book in this silly little Night Prince spin off from Frost's Night Huntress series w/ Cat and Bones in it (which are SERIOUSLY fun books and ones I would highly recommend!) and I enjoyed the first book in this series, although if I remember correctly, I was kind of disappointed  so why did I grab this one?! I dunno! I was hoping this series would be cheeky and clever and full of hotness and fun like the Night Huntress series. It sort of it... but sort of isn't. *shrug* I really like Vlad's character, but this series is more about Leila (his mate) than it is about Vlad, which is a bummer, but it's okay. There was a lot less "action" than in her other books, so that is strange too. This book was just OK. There was nothing in it that wow'd me or amazed me, or made me feel or think too hard. It was a quick and easy, so-so little listen. I guess the two- Vlad and Leila worked through their issues in the book so that was a good thing. It was just quite quick that I felt like I blinked and it was over! It basically was! LOL! an 8 hour listen?! Just kooky!

anyway, I gave this one just:

...and to my chagrin, I just started this one (which is highly anticipated and probably the only YA you'll ever see me listening to! *wink*)

She's a mortal with dark powers...

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude...until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire...

He's the Prince of Night...

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all—but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him—a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

Hello visitors! I've completed the above book and here I am reviewing it! LOL! This was Mrs. Frost's first book in the Night Prince Series, which means what? More Vlad books?? I certainly hope so because although I love Bones and Cat and everyone else involved in Frosts's Night Huntress World series, I especially loved Vlad's story! I thought it was interesting who she paired him with as well! Leila was quite interesting in her "gifts". I really liked it and loved their "relationship", though it really isn't much of a relationship because of how Frost ended the book- which ehhhh, I wasn't too fond of. There was an epilogue which tends to "wrap things up", but truthfully it was a serious cliff hanger, lol! So with that being said, I'm sincerely hoping we see more of Vlad in his very own series- the Night Prince series! :) I fell madly in love with Vlad in the very first book that he appeared in in the Night Huntress Series w/ Bones and Cat and was really looking forward to his own book- imagine my happiness when I was stalking Frost's website and saw he's have his own book! I've been biding my time all the while, waiting to give it a listen and even though I had pretty high expectations, I wasn't let down too terribly much! It was a really great book!

I give Once Burned ★★★★★ = Loved it!

And I have loaded up and ready to go (which I'm so freaking excited about, I could pee!)

An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness . . . And now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.

Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she's only imagined in her worst nightmares.

At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he'd seen it all. Then Kira appears, this fearless, beautiful . . . human who braved death to rescue him. Though he burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable.

But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction.

Hello!! Whew! Been a while huh? Generally I update this good ol' book blog of mine more frequently, but like I mentioned in my previous post, my parents came into town from Washington State for a week visit and it was so much fun, I barely gave a listen to my book while they were here! They left several days ago, and I'm now just getting into a comfy groove of listening to my book throughout the day while my girls are in school. I've FINALLY finished this book- Eternal Kiss of Night the second book in Frost's Night Huntress World series. Felt like this book was rather long and drawn out, but I think it's because I was preoccupied most of the time with family and just overall busy with other things. So, aside from this book feeling a little long winded, it was kinda cool, but then kinda a little dull as well. I had high hopes for Mencheres... I don't know why, just did. With him being as old as he is, I'd think he would just kinda react and act a little differently. I am not sure what it is that makes me think this, and maybe it was Tavia Gilbert's way that she read his "voice", it just kind of made me think he were an ol' stick in the mud or something. I did really like Kira though! Well, I liked them both, but with everything I was doing at the time while listening to this book, I really don't think I can give a very fair review. I will just leave it with "good book". How's that? LOL! Yeah, not good enough! :P The two's chemistry was really nice though, I liked it. But it lacked a lot of 'meat on the bones' content for me. I dunno! I'm failing at this review miserably! hahah! I'm going to start the third book very shortly and can't wait! It's Vlad's book, and even though he made a short appearance in this book, it wasn't enough! I can't wait to hear his story! :) See you all soon!

I gave this book: ★★★★ = Liked it!

The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows - her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield - and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family's dark past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness - and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who craves a taste of her.

He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human - even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the demon nightmare together...

Because once the first drop of crimson falls, they will both be lost.

Hello again readers! I currently have my parents visiting from out of town (Washington State) and so I've not been able to listen to my audiobooks as often as I might like, but I did manage to finish the first book in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress World series- First Drop of Crimson. You don't know how good it was to get back into Frost's little Night Huntress "World"! Granted, this wasn't about Cat and Bones, which is okay, they made brief appearances and I got to hear Bone's quirky, crazy British accent that Tavia Gilbert NAILS! LOL! This book was about some of the other minor series in the Night Huntress; Bone's best friend Spade and Cat's best friend Denise. I have to say, I really love Spade after this book. He's kinda a douche in the other books, but this one really focused in on the why's and how's of his mind and his emotions and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Denise's story was pretty cool too! This story line coincided with, I think book 4 or 5 in the regular Night Huntress series, which they hinted at, and it was really nice to see what was going on WHILE Cat and Bones were off doing their own things, it's like a different point of view along the same timeline- which is so fun!! I have since started the second book in the Night Huntress World series but I've been really preoccupied with doing custom blogs for client's and my folks visiting from out of town as well as my kiddo's first week of school, so when things settle down a bit more, I will be updating more frequently and simply can not wait until the book after this one I'm on right now, which is Vlad's story! I thought about skipping ahead to it, but will be patient and wait! I'm just so excited for it!!! I know I will love it because I love the lore of Vlad aka Dracula (lol! he hates being called that in the books!) and love his personality and really loved the relationship between Cat and Vlad, so it will be awesome, I think! Anyway, I am cutting this short, so sorry! This was a really good start to a whole "world" series and I know I will love the rest of the books as I loved this one! :)

I think I'm going to give this book ★★★★.5 stars!

One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress #6)

4.2 of 5 stars 4.20  ·   rating details  ·  10,621 ratings  ·  1,100 reviews
The latest installment in Frost's "New York Times"- and "USA Today"-bestselling Night Huntress series, in which Cat grapples with her temporary ability to communicate with the dead and takes on a phantom murderer. Original.

Welcome back readers! Here I've concluded the Night Huntress Series thus far... just finished book 6 earlier today and wanted to get a review out before I got too into the new series I just started a few hours ago. I don't know if Frost has any intentions on continuing Bone's and Cat's story any further, or leaving it at 6 books, but it felt like a good place for a stand still... a break, so to speak. I vaguely recall reading something about a Night Huntress "World" on her website when reviewing the books before I started them, so that is definitely something for me to look into in the future when I've had a sufficient enough break... I'm ashamed to admit it, but I think I will have Tavia's voice of Bone's echoing in my mind for quite some time! ;) Even though I said that the accent killed me at the first & second review! LOL! He became seriously endearing after 6 books! And oddly enough, the new series I plugged into today is actually narrated by Tavia as well! LOL! It's not often that that sort of things happens. Readers repeat obviously, especially the real strong male narrators, but I didn't know of Tavia before this series (that I recall off hand) and now she's going to be reading a whole new series, it's just kind of funny to me! Feels familiar, but where, oh where is Bones? Bahahah!! Okay. So Bone's and Cat's 6th journey together... it was a good one. It had all the same excitement and adventure in it as the rest of the books in the series had of course and a bit more of the "connection" between the two main characters that we've all grown to love. Bone's and Cat are quite the couple! :) I like them both equally, I think, after having read their story in book form back to back... SIX whole books! Well, when I said "read", of course I meant LISTENED to! ;) Either way, I don't know how long I will be able to go w/o hearing about Bones and Cat or at least their "world", so I might look into the Night Huntress "World" books sooner rather than later! :) Anyone looking for a good adventure, love story, drama, and tons of action with a great writing style, pick up these books!

I gave this 6th book in the series    ★★★★ = Liked it!

And several hours ago, I started this book:

Danger waits on both sides of the grave.
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband Bones have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they've triumphed over the latest battle, Cat's new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance . . .
With the mysterious disappearance of vampires, rumors abound that a species war is brewing. A zealot is inciting tensions between the vampires and ghouls, and if these two powerful groups clash, innocent mortals could become collateral damage. Now Cat and Bones are forced to seek help from a dangerous "ally"; the ghoul queen of New Orleans herself. But the price of her assistance may prove more treacherous than even the threat of a supernatural war . . . to say nothing of the repercussions Cat never imagined.

Hello again! Here I am with my review on the 5th book in the Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost! This book was along the same vein as the others, and although I didn't enjoy it quite as much as book 4, I thought it held it's own and was a good, solid book. As you may or may not know, I LOVE me a good series, and though this series is not as emotional and all lovey-dovey as some of the series I read, it has GREAT action and adventure and good, sturdy plots and characters. I love the diversity of the characters and love the fact that we get to see them make repeat performances throughout the whole series. I know the focus is solely on Bones and Cat, but learning a bit more about the secondary characters wouldn't hurt, I don't think... it's sort of a shame we don't get to know some of the other characters like Tate, a bit better. But Bones and Cat's adventures could surely fill page after page, as they have already done and be a pretty decent book(s), don't get me wrong! I enjoyed the emotion in this book a lot, and don't want to do any real spoilers but there is a pretty heart wrenching moment in towards the end of the book that made me shed a bit of a tear! I think the only thing that I didn't really 'feel' was the difference in Tavia Gilbert's reading style in this one. She gets very rushed and panicked and frantic when she reads during exciting moments in the book, and sometimes that it hard to follow along and keep track of. That was the only real con and against several of the pro's, it doesn't really make the book terrible, just something that I didn't fully prefer. All in all, this is a great fifth book in the series and I started book 6 last night, so I had to get this review down here before I pop my mp3 earbuds in and give a listen while doing chores today~ so here it is! :)

I gave This Side of The Grave this many stars: ★★★★ = Liked it!

And I've loaded up the final book in the series so far, book 6 last night!

Hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when half-vampire Cat Crawfield begins having visions of a vampire named Gregor who's more powerful than Cat's undead lover, Bones, and has ties to her past that even Cat herself doesn't know about. Original.

Hello again! I'm bringing you my review on the 4th book in the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. Now, I know I was a little mehhhh regarding her last couple of the books in this series, but I realllly liked this one! It seems she has a bit of a lull there in her writing (book wise) but it appears she's picked up, for me! I liked everything about this particular book- the drama- the relationships- the twists and turns- the action, everything! It felt like a quick bit of a listen, but there wasn't really anything at all that bothered me about this one! It was all over the place, but with a common "goal" and the ending was great! I just started the 5th book a few minutes ago, but figured that I would sit down and put a few of my thoughts down here in review format, before I completely forgot about reviewing this book, LOL! I really like how Bones wasn't a blathering love-sick dope in this one... he's gonna kinda mehhh for me! Obviously he's powerful, a master vamp etc, but towards Cat in the previous books he's just been starstruck, hearts in his eyes, kinda annoying for me. He really shows his truer colors in this one and kinda goes out on a limb with his feelings and there's tons of emotions going on in this one for Bones. Ah, and another tid bit without putting too many spoilers out there, I REALLY enjoy the friendship between Cat and Dracul... errrrr, "Vald"... LOL! It's fantastic, and it's so nice to have heard from Vlad that he wasn't interested in sex etc, he just wanted a friend... That's even better than the sex stuff for me, ALMOST. Bahah! Okay... I'm dying to turn my mp3 player back on and get busy on the next book! I will be back soon to review it, don't you worry! :)

I gave this one: ★★★★★ = Loved it!

It should be the best time of half-vampire Cat Crawfield’s life. With her undead lover Bones at her side, she’s successfully protected mortals from the rogue undead. But though Cat’s worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover’s finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger.

As if that wasn’t enough, a woman from Bones’s past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat’s about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she’s learned as a special agent won’t help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself—and Bones—from a fate worse than the grave.

So, HI again! So soon it seems, right? I just finished up Book 3 in the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, and I have to say I was happier with it, than with book 2. It had a lot more action in it, and a lot of emotions that were all over the place! It's all very Anita Blake (series by Laurell K Hamilton) sounding though, the more I give it a listen and the more it gets into the "secret branch of the military"-esque. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Anita Blake (Vampire Hunter) but the action sequences, the 'little battles' are very reminiscent and starting to sound repetitive and familiar. I think it might have to do with the fact that I am devouring these books one right after another, and they are probably not meant to be read that way since authors don't release books that way- there is generally a good year or less between each book they release. But with other series that are all available and out, I tend to grab them and eat them up one after another. *sigh* So what should I do then? Give this series a 'rest'? I've just loaded up book 4, and I generally don't get exhausted so quickly on books but this series is doing that for me. It's not warm and fuzzy like my last series I just finished (The Nightwalker series by Jacquelyn Frank, I'm having a little withdrawal from the characters, wishing the series weren't over and wanting that sense of 'mate' and 'love')... Hmmm. I guess I will just kind of carry on with this series. Cat is being more and more kind of... heartless, cold, battle hardened and Bones is strictly business in this book. There's A LOT of action and adventure and I guess I'm just not used to that too much considering the last series I just finished. I'll pull up my big girl panties and get through these books, I think! Onward!!!

I gave this one: ★★★★ = Liked it! It was fairly enjoyable!

Until next time~!

You can run from the grave, but you can’t hide…
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.
Being around Bones awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline rush of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head – wanted: dead or half-alive – means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard Cat tries to keep things professional between them, she’ll find that desire lasts forever … and Bones won’t let her get away again. Original.

Hi all! Welcome back to my audiobook review blog! Today I'll be letting you guys know about a book I just finished last night called One Foot in the Grave. It's book 2 in the Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost. I'm not sure if I am needing a bit of a Night Huntress break, but this one was just kinda Meh. for me. It lulled a bit in the middle and by the end, it was kinda just like in one ear, out the other, even though the very end had a tiny little twist that was vaguely enjoyable. This book took place FOUR YEARS after where the first book left off, which was slightly surprising, but I guess it was meant to show the reader that Cat's feelings for Bones were strong and could with stand the test of time, even though she kind of ended their relationship at the end of book 1 (spoiler! sorry!)... so, my heart was palpitating pretty good at the beginning when they two finally get back together and I had a feel for Cat's longing and sadness while they were apart. One thing has bugged me though, before Cat and Bones got back together, they mentioned TWICE, her tattoo she got after she parted ways with Bones... the tattoo was a replica of the one mentioned in book one, that Bones had. Well, why mention the tattoo if when they got hot and heavy again, he wouldn't have noticed it, or said something about it... I think that would have been a great addition. That first time they (well not the FIRST time, that was pretty ehhhh yeah... not the time), but when they got back together in a prone position (LOL!), and he was errrrr.... enjoying her body (?!), that he would have noticed it, looked up at her, said something, she would have given a cheeky grin... whatever. It just would have been a quick, nice addition. Anyway. Hey, I'm not a writer, whatever. LOL! Okay... so yeah. This book was just OK for me. There was a great, steamy scene, but these books may as well be genre'd YA for the lack of errrrr, 'heat' they have. It's enough, but just barely. I know, they aren't smut... I need to go back to reading 50 Shades, but I'm just sayin'- a little more descriptive sex scenes would be kinda nice. But I digress... the book was decent. 'Nuff said! I started book 3 last night, but I'm wondering if my hearts in it. I don't know how I will get through 4 more of these books if they are as kinda mehhhhh as the second one.

On Good Reads I have this book 4 stars, but I think after really thinking about it, I will give this book:
★★★ = Meh.
