Mine to Hold (Wicked Lovers #6) by Shayla Black

Mine to Hold (Wicked Lovers, # 6)
A friend’s duty.Tyler Murphy was an LAPD detective, single and happy—until a near-fatal tragedy crippled his friend, fellow detective Eric Catalano. While Tyler supported Eric, he also became a shoulder for Eric’s wife, Delaney, to lean on. But with one naughty suggestion from Eric, a drunken night with Delaney spilled into erotic abandon. Before it was over, Tyler saw his best friend’s wife as a woman and yearned for more. When Eric struggled to deal with the aftermath, Delaney begged Tyler to leave. Crushed, he fled to Louisiana, hoping to escape his longing for the one woman he could never have again…and unaware of what he’d left behind.
A lover’s desire. After two years of living with regret, Tyler finds Delaney on his doorstep, her husband having abandoned her long ago. She’s protecting a shocking secret and desperately needs refuge from a stalker determined to see her dead. As they fight to stay alive and catch the killer, they struggle to resolve the guilt of their past pleasures. But they can’t deny that what was once a spark is now a flame burning out of control. To possess Delaney—body and soul—Tyler must heal her pain and thwart the evil that’s a mere breath behind her…

Hello! :) I'm back with my review of the 6th book in the Wicked Lovers series by Shayla Black. I had listened to books 1-3 one right after the other and then took a pretty long break before barreling through books 4-6. Let me tell you, out of all 6 of the books, I liked this one the best, I think. It wasn't too long (like I felt the last book {5} was) and it didn't seem like it went on and on without interest. This one held my interest the whole time. I didn't mind this plot either, it was actually kind of neat, how Tyler and Delaney (which is such a cute name) knew one another and had some freak encounter (no spoilers!) back a couple of years ago which leads them to the point they are at in the book... it was pretty smokin' hot too! I enjoyed it! Which is surprising because the books in this series were either hit or miss with me, and the majority were 'miss'. Anyway. I'm excited to be moving on from this series, starting a new book and being introduced to new characters and plots! :)

Not too shabby, I gave this one:

Belong To Me (Wicked Lovers #5) by Shayla Black

Belong To Me (Wicked Lovers, #5)
She’s undercover and in over her head…
When FBI analyst Tara Jacobs’ fellow agent and best friend goes missing while investigating a sex ring, Tara goes undercover as a submissive in a Dallas BDSM club called Dominion. But no man can top a woman with Tara’s moxie convincingly enough—until an edgy, dangerous Dom takes control of the scene and sets her heart racing with a single, commanding glance. Too bad he’s also the man who stole her innocence years ago—and the one to whom she will never submit.
He’s got everything under control…until he falls for her again.
Navy SEAL Logan Edgington once left the woman he loved to save her life. He knows Tara will never forgive him, but he has no doubt that he possesses the knowledge to master her fears and the strength to guide her through an unfamiliar world of pleasure and pain. He alone can protect her on a dangerous mission that reveals both wicked depravities and terrible secrets. Logan relishes the exquisite torture of holding her again, feeling her uninhibited response. No matter how much Tara insists their fling will end after this mission, he’s determined that she will be his again—and this time, he’ll never let her go.

Hi, hi! I'm here to give you all my review of the above book, which is book 5 in the Wicked Lovers Series. I actually finished this late last night but haven't gotten a chance to sit down and really focus on a review since it's summer break and I'm super busy with the kiddo's! Anyway, this book was pretty okay. It focuses heavy on the BDSM world and gives the reader a lot of insight on that way of life, so that is kinda neat and interesting, and the characters were well rounded and vaguely familiar, as we've met Logan in previous books if you've read the other books in the series like I have. I do have to admit that through MOST of the book I kinda zoned out a lot, just hearing the words and barely letting them form an image in my mind, that is how this plot sort of went, a lot of hurry and wait type of moments, going here, doing this... it got very monotonous towards the end, and you kind of figure out who "the bad guy" is halfway through (or at least I did! LOL!) so it was a little flat there, but the "scenes" were pretty smokin' hot and the two main characters back story etc was pretty interesting, so that kept me hangin' in through the end! There are only 6 books so far and I just started book 6 late last night and I'm going to say that I will be happy once this series is over and I can get back into a paranormal groove! ;)

Only this many stars from me this time:

Until next time! :)

Surrender to Me (Wicked Lovers #4) by Shayla Black

Surrender to Me (Wicked Lovers, #4)
A secret fantasy.
Hunter had everything until a bullet put his career as a Navy SEAL on hold. Restless and uncertain about his future, he accepts an intriguing proposition: share an acquaintance’s girlfriend and fulfill her fantasy of a ménage. It should have been just a night of sexual adventure between three consenting adults. But Kata is like no other girl Hunter has ever met. By turns audacious and sexy, then vulnerable and aloof, she’s a heartbreaker he’s determined to master. But he needs more than one night. And he wants to do it alone.
An uncontrollable obsession.
Kata never expected to leave her comfortable relationship and explore something so dangerously forbidden with a stranger. Hard as she tries to resist, the guilty pleasure overwhelms her, and she surrenders herself, inch by inch, to the hardcore man who wants her for himself. Consumed by blazing desire, they’re soon threatened by the shadows of the past. And now to keep Kata safe, Hunter makes her a bold proposition of his own. Saying yes will destroy her heart. But saying no could cost Kata her life.

Okay, so I'm reviewing this book that I finished earlier from my bed, on my poopy laptop which I hate, so bear with me. I know this post doesn't "appear" like my usual posts do, and I will get it fixed tomorrow, I promise! I started the next book in this series shortly after THIS book was finished and I don't want to give anymore of a listen before completing this review... so here I go!

This is the fourth book in the Wicked Lovers Series by Shayla Black, and immediately, I remember WHY I stopped listening to these books. I had gotten through three of them and thought MEH, that's quite enough. These books are just... (pardon me) stupid. That's all. The only reason I'm listening to these and continue to do so (there are 6 books so far) is because they are pretty freakin' smokin' hot to be honest! This one was heavy into BDSM which has always been an intrigue of mine, but the plot... gods! It was bad. It was like "love at first sight", which always bothers me. I guess a lot of the books I listen to are like that, and maybe those books get a lower rating but I like a book where it takes a little while for the characters to actually fucking KNOW one another to start professing their undying love. Now I can understand a bit in paranormal books where they are "drawn inexplicably" to their one true mate (ya de yah) but this book is chalk full'a HUMANS and Hunter professing his love for Kata straight forward, within like the first 3 chapters of the book was a little disconcerting to say the least. I understand the mindset of the book, the BDSM theme / lifestyle, but this felt more like Black googled "bdsm" and just kinda inserted much of the common phrases and feelings from confessions. I dunno. It was stupid, yes. But hot... so. Yeah. It was read by Lexi Maynard who read the other three books in the series and hearing her voice some of the previous characters (some of them made brief appearances in this book) like Kimber, oh lordy! The way she made Kimber sound in the original book she was introduced in was enough to make me kill a person, so hearing it again brought back a lot of gritting teeth and baring it! LOL! Anyway. Hot book. Lame and predictable plot. But like I said, I started the next one in the series because I have a morbid fascination to hear Hunter's brother's book ;)

Yup- only this many stars:

See You Next Time! :)

Eternal Demon (Mark of the Vampire #5) by Laura Wright

Eternal Demon (Mark of the Vampire, #5)

When Erion’s son is kidnapped by the evil vampire Cruen, Erion vows to stop at nothing to find his hideaway—including intercepting the traveling party of Cruen’s beautiful bride-to-be. But instead of a vulnerable caravan, Erion is met by a feral band of female demons that includes Hellen, the bride—a creature of dark magic and darker passion.

Though the safety of his son is foremost, Erion can’t deny his unexpected connection to Hellen—inflaming a manic desire as primal as it is irresistible. As their bond intensifies, they move toward an inevitable and terrifying battle. With time running out, Erion realizes he must not only find and rescue his son but protect Hellen from Cruen and the underworld forces waiting to destroy her for her betrayal.

Hi all! Back after just having finished the above book! I actually quite enjoyed this book- Erion is a complete bad-ass alpha male, that is for sure! He's smokin' hot in this book too! His character is just well, male and beastly! Which kinda fits him pretty well! This the fifth book in the Mark of The Vampire series by Laura Wright and to be honest, since I hadn't really listened to her recently, it took me a bit to get into it because I was confused as fuck and couldn't remember half the shit I knew I should remember about the series. Lots of puzzle pieces clicked and slid into place by... oh, the end of the book hahahah! Either way it was enjoyable! I really enjoyed the other books in this series too, as I recall. It's a great, fast paced, involved series, that is for sure. The characters are all mentioned in previous books past (and if I had a right and proper memory, I would have enjoyed that fact more so! LOL!) and if I recall, Tavia Gilbert reads the other books too. She's so creepily dramatic in parts that I get a little weirded out by her reading at times! She just clearly puts a lot into her reading! Either way, the more I let this book soak in, the more I really am looking forward to the next in this series and hope that it's not so far and few in between as this was from it's previous book. So yeah... good continuance of the series, if you haven't grabbed this series yet, consider doing so, but start at book 1! :)

An easy:

Not sure what is next, I have tons of books waiting to be devoured! We'll see!

Epilogue (The Dark Duet #3) by C.J. Roberts

Epilogue (The Dark Duet, #3)
I’m writing this because you begged. You know how I love the begging. In fact, you probably know too many things and know them far too well.
Who am I?
Well, that’s what I’m trying to figure out. I was a whore in my youth, a killer since my adolescence, and a monster as a man. I am the man who kidnapped Livvie. I am the man who held her in a dark room for weeks. But, most importantly, I am the man she loves.
She loves me. It’s quite sick, isn’t it?
Of course, there’s more to our story than can be surmised in a few short sentences, but I’m at a loss for justifying my behavior back then. I assume if you’re reading this, I don’t need to make those justifications. You’ve already made your own.
You’re reading this because you want to know about the rest of the story. You want to know what happened that warm summer night in September of 2010, the night I met Livvie at The Paseo. It was the night my life changed all over again.
It didn’t happen exactly as Livvie said. She’s been very kind to me in the retelling of our story. The truth is far more…complicated.

Well hello there, lovely readers! Honestly, who even reads this book review blog?! Hah! I don't much care, I love giving my opinion, so here I am! I just finished up the 3rd... book? Not sure if I can call it that... I guess novella? Merp, anyway... just finished Epilogue a few minutes ago and am not quite sure how I feel about it. I was completely captivated and obsessed with her first two books, captive in the dark and seduced in the dark- they were completely amazing and out of this world... best books I've honestly ever read! Honestly! But this one... errr... not quite sure if it was really necessary. It almost felt like an obligation, as if C.J. felt like she HAD to tie up loose ends, to please her readers by giving them an "ending". Per say... I loved reading a whole novella through Caleb's point of view, but didn't really like how she merged James and Caleb... to me, that was unnecessary as well. I think Caleb should have been happy being Caleb, and shouldn't have craved being James, but perhaps that is what abuse, rape etc does to someone? Makes them want to be someone else after their trauma? Hmmmm. I am not saying I didn't like this story... I did! It was juicy and hot, but as hot as it was, it was also just a tad emotional. Not like the other books where the emotions are THE WHOLE BOOK, where the books MADE you feel and that completely rip your insides out. This one wasn't like that, it was more like small pangs of remembered emotions.... that sounds strange. I guess I haven't given myself enough time to really contemplate the story, but there wasn't ENOUGH to really fill me full, you know? I'm left feeling needy and wanting...more! Ah well. Anyway, I'm still giving this 5 stars, but am still craving a little more substance, like the other books. I wonder if anyone else is feeling this way? I may go read some other reviews! :)

See you guys next time! I have no idea what I'll start next!

Forever (The World of Nightwalkers #2) by Jacquelyn Frank

Forever (The World of Nightwalkers, #2)

After being brought back from death, police officer Jackson Waverly receives the shock of his life: he has become host to a Bodywalker, a spirit that is reborn in flesh and blood, and part of a proud, ancient race that uses its extraordinary gifts to battle dark, evil forces. Jackson’s spirit is a powerful one—none other than the Egyptian pharaoh Menes, who longs to reunite with his eternal love, the Egyptian queen Hatshepsut.
While Menes is obsessed with finding the perfect vessel for his queen, Jackson cannot stop thinking about Dr. Marissa Anderson, the gorgeous precinct shrink who keeps pushing him to confront his grief over the loss of his K-9 partner. But what Marissa really arouses most in Jackson is intense desire, which is exactly what Menes is looking for. To fight a great enemy, pharaoh and queen must join; but to host Hatshepsut, Marissa will first have to die. Fate has given Jackson a profound choice: save Marissa from Menes’ plan or keep an entire species from the brink of extinction.

So...hi! First and foremost.... WHAT THE FUCK?! Honestly... this book took me FOREVER (nod towards book title) to get into, one of the more harder ones by Frank for me to really sink my teeth into, and then once I was into it... BAM! It's fucking OVER! This book wasn't even 9 hours long!!! Just shy, coming in at 8 hours and 56!!!!!!!!! minutes! Gah! This isn't typical of Frank, so if this is your first go 'round with her audiobooks (it sure isn't mine, I'm a Frank follower LOL!), have no fear, they generally aren't this... short and stout, yanno, like a flippin' tea pot! Ugh! So here we are with the 2nd book in her spin off of the Nightwalkers- the WORLD of Nightwalkers... it's supposedly to tie all the different "types" of Nightwalkers together, and I can just see that tiny itty bitty sparkle of that happening, but by gods, it's taking literally forever (another nod at the book title! *snort*) and it's almost painful in it's slowness! Hmmm, I would suggest to anyone to read her books very slowly and to draw them out because if you go at them like I have, devouring them, you'll be stuck craving MORE MORE MORE while poor Mizzzzz Frank is hustling and bustling trying to crank out book after book. (please don't burst my bubble in telling me she isn't hustling, OR bustling, because in my fantasy land authors are like mindless, heartless machines who only exist for our reading/listening pleasure!) So yeah. This takes place directly after the 1st book in this series did and moves along rather slowly until a huge door is slammed in your face saying NOPE! NO MORE! Bleh! Haven't had that feeling, well, ever, with a Frank book, so it was startling! I can see where it's going and I am looking forward to the next one, but by gods, I tell ya *shakes fist maniacally* it better not have an ending like this one! anyway... I just bought C.J. Roberts newest e-book, and even though I HATE reading, I have it loaded up on my tablet ready to completely engross my life, so off I go!!!! :D Soooo excited!

I gave Forever:

...though for that fucked up ending, it should have only gotten maybe 2 stars! Grrrr!!!

... next!

Epilogue (The Dark Duet, #3)

Entwined with You (Crossfire #3) by Sylvia Day

Entwined with You (Crossfire, #3)

The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts, and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires…
From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.
No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.
Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…

Hello hello! So... even though this was an eagerly awaited third book in the Crossfire Series and was HOT HOT HOT beyond measure, some parts and aspects of this book really were MEH for me! :( About 4 chapters in, I just got sooo tired of the "lifestyles of the rich and famous" attitude and descriptions and it got very old, very fast! I get it, everyone's rich and insanely gorgeous... is there anything else that is worthy of mentioning? Anything... at all?! *sigh* Of course I am familiar with Gideon and Eva, have read the other two books and really loved them a lot, but this one for some reason kinda struck a strange cord within me. It was like... when will the "honeymoon phase" or the "infatuation phase" end? And I don't mean honeymoon because of...errrr... ummm... yanno (no spoilers!) I just mean this insane goo-goo gah gah that Eva has for Gideon! It takes "love at first sight" to a kind of annoying sickly sweet creeptastic level that I am getting kind of bored with! I understand she likes him, and he likes her, but really now, people! Get over it! LOL! And I guess it makes sense because essentially these books plot-wise really only cover a span of months, like maybe 3 months? So I guess the "FIRE" is still burnin' and alive but it just is getting a little meh for me! :/ And... when was the act of rape ever been seen as a proper "cure all" for a PTSD rape victim...?! I mean really!? I dunno, maybe NEVER? Yeah, probably never. And this book just abruptly ended, like I honestly felt like it was just the end of a chapter, and I would wait a couple seconds and the familiar voice of Jill Redfield (who's a decent narrator) would continue on but nope! It just stopped! And I guess there is a note at the end of the book explaining and I've been reading on her Facebook that a 4th book is on its way, but holy smokes, talk about just a utter and complete let down. The end of the book didn't answer questions, ease any tensions- nuthin'! Just left me kinda hanging and wanting a lot more steamy scenes! LOL! I do have to give this book THAT much credit- it was HOT... steamy, smokin' hot! Which I expect from Day anyway, her other books were pretty hot, but this one pushed a few more limits and took one tiny little step out of the vanilla flavor, which was very nice! ;) Anyway, of course I will go on to read book 4 when it's released, but the semi-bad taste of this one needs to be replaced for me!

I have lots of books loaded up on my mp3 player, so I have to decide what is next... we'll see!! ;)

Beautiful Stranger (Beautiful Bastard #2) by Christina Lauren

YES, I've listened to this book on audio and YES this post contains spoilers, as I am reviewing a book!! LOL! may contain questionable language, discretion is advised! Excerpt below from Good Reads.}

Beautiful Stranger (Beautiful Bastard #2)

by
A charming British Playboy. A girl determined to finally live. And a secret liaison revealed in all too vivid color. Book two in the NYT Bestselling series.
Escaping a cheating ex, finance whiz Sara Dillon's moved to New York City and is looking for excitement without a lot of strings attached. So meeting the irresistible, sexy Brit at a dance club should have meant nothing more than a night's fun. But the manner--and speed--with which he melts her inhibitions turns him from a one-time hookup and into her Beautiful Stranger.
The whole city knows Max Stella loves women, not that he's ever found one he particularly wants to keep around. Despite pulling in plenty with his Wall Street bad boy charm, it's not until Sara--and the wild photos she lets him take of her--that he starts wondering if there's someone for him outside of the bedroom.
Hooking up in places where anybody could catch them, the only thing scarier for Sara than getting caught in public is having Max get too close in private.

Hello, hello! So, I just finished this book a little bit ago, and am ready for my review, Mr. DeMille! ;) Just like the first book in this amazing little series, Beautiful Stranger was AWE-SOME! Only have 1 mehhh thing to say about it... It was sooo SHORT! I could have listened to this book for days, weeks!!! I think I thought the first book was relatively short too, if I remember correctly, but this one was set up with male and female narration and although I've recently said this sometimes is off putting, it REALLY worked in this book and I mean REALLY worked! ;) The male reader who does the voice of Max is just BRILLIANT! His accent almost sounded more scot/irish kinda, but I really enjoyed it, and had never heard of a Jonathan R. Cole before now! He's a great reader! Loved his voice for this book! And Grace Grant read the female perspective in the book, which she also read Beautiful Bastard, the book before this one in this series. It was really cool because the story isn't so much as a "sequel" but it does mention Chloe and Bennett from the first book! Just loved it! It wasn't quite as clever and witty as the first one, this one was much more lovey dovey and had a more "love" undertone, which was pretty much the opposite of Beautiful Bastard, lol! That one was gritty, grungy, dirty and just filthy... this one had its filthy little moments, Sara was quite naughty in her own right, but Bennett was much more of a... well, Bastard! LOL! Anyway, anyone who wants a steamy quick read, you should seriously pick up these books! I am absolutely head over heels in love with this series! :)

This one totally deserves:

and I have no idea what is next... I have several loaded up and came across another series I hadn't heard of, so we'll see!

Omega (Penton Legacy #3) by Susannah Sandlin

YES, I've listened to this book on audio and YES this post contains spoilers, as I am reviewing a book!! LOL! may contain questionable language, discretion is advised! Excerpt below from Good Reads.}

Omega (Penton Legacy #3)

by
The bloody war between the Vampire Tribunal and the defiant scathe of Penton, Alabama, rages on, forcing its residents and their bonded humans to retreat into the underground fortress of last resort: Omega.
There, Will Ludlam is charged with the care of Penton’s humans, though he longs to fight alongside his vampire brethren. He knows the risks: as the renegade son of the Tribunal’s vicious leader, Will’s capture could doom the resistance. Yet he is determined to prove his worth to his adopted scathe, to his vengeful father—and to former US Army officer Randa Thomas, his beautiful, reluctant partner.
Randa has little faith that a former member of the vampire elite has what it takes to fight a war. But as their enemies descend upon Omega, Will’s polished charm—and Randa’s guarded heart—finally give way to the warrior within.

Hello! I just finished this third book in the Penton Legacy series and I really liked it! I think I may have preferred it best out of the three books! I really liked the second book's main character Mirren, but Will, in this book was a great leading male character! And his female counterpart, Randa, was pretty great as well. This one was less dramatic and adventurous, but it was more of a 'easing' into the romance, if you can call it that. It wasn't shock gasp love at first sight like the other books seemed to be, it was much more gradual and comfortable, which I really liked. This series is pretty decent, I hope there are more books in it, but the ending of this gave the impression she was doing a spin off, which, apparently from looking at good reads, lol- she intends to release a book that is probably more military based called Omega Force, which I'm sure is related to this series and will have familiar characters in it. I don't know why authors do that! I think this series could have kept going the way it was, and I can't really stand military based books! Meehhhh! Anyway... this one was good, I'm happy that I read these three in this series! A nice light read for anyone who enjoys a fairly decently written vampire series!

This was more of a 4.5 for me, but I gave it a little extra for being the last in the series heheh!

...and I have several different brand new released books in series that I've indulged in previously that I am EXTREMELY excited in listening to...

Beautiful Stranger (Beautiful Bastard, #2)
